Our lawyers have extensive experience with Georgia and federal laws and regulations governing health care providers, including the Stark Laws, the Anti-Kickback Law, the Georgia Patient Self-Referral Act, the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Georgia Hospital Acquisitions Act and the Georgia Hospital Authorities Act. Our attorneys are also knowledgeable in medical consent, Medicare and Medicaid billing and peer review and other issues relevant to health care providers.

Representative Transactions:

• Developed physician recruiting programs for hospitals through which over 40 physicians have been successfully recruited in the last five years.

• Represented the acquirer in the first hospital acquisition under Georgia's recently enacted Hospital Acquisitions Act.

• Assisted with the development and implementation of a hospital legal compliance program.

• Represent a hospital-based Management Services Organization (MSO) in all aspects of operation, including practice acquisitions, legal compliance, billing and contracting.

• Counseled hospital staff on loss prevention measures.
